Crisp, Clear Vision
Purevision lenses by Bausch and Lomb are designed to provide the patient with high definition vision. These lenses are designed aspherically; meaning they have less radius of curvature (or bulge) than other lenses and maintain a flatter curve along the entire surface of the lens. This translates into a more comfortable lens since patients with high degrees of myopia (nearsightedness) or hyperopia (farsightendness) may often have tighter fitting lenses due to the curvature required for correcting the error. Additionally, this design provides the patient with a wider field of view since light rays are not refracted as steeply since the curvature is not as great.
AerGel allows Purevision contact to provide the eye with one of the highest levels of moisture and oxygen of any soft lens on the market. AerGel was developed for use in other applications, but if used on a grand scale it is cost prohibitive thus making it ideal for contact lenses. AerGel is extremely lightweight (almost with the same density as air) and allows extremely large amounts of oxygen to permeate through its membrane. This permeation allows high level of oxygen to reach the cornea from the atmosphere and prevents complications associated with oxygen deprivation to the corneal surface. In addition to providing the cornea with high oxygen transmissibility, AerGel retains moisture longer than most hydrogel materials used in contact lens manufacturing. These two characteristics allow Purevision contacts to provide greater comfort throughout the day.
