Aquaform Science Comfort Technology
The Aquaform Science Comfort Technology, a unique manufacturing process employed by Biofinity, allows for a high level of breathability, retention of moisture and prolonged level of comfort for the wearer. All of these things are accomplished through utilization of silicone hydrogel material designed to not only retain a great deal of moisture, but unlike other hydrogels, provide a softer contact lens substrate allowing the lens to have a more natural feel to the patient. This material possesses a high level of biocompatibility, through use of a substance known as phosphorylcholine. Phosphorylcholine is so biocompatible it is often used in heart stents and other medical applications due to its lack of rejection by the body. It is a hydrophilic substance that incorporates the body’s natural ability to stay hydrated and works as a partner with ocular tissues to maintain a healthy, fluid environment.
Biofinity lenses are aspherically designed meaning light rays are bent toward the optical center as you transverse the lens periphery. This also translates to a less steep lens curvature allowing it to be seated closer to the visual axis; the pathway light travels to allow the process of vision to take place. This translates into a wider field of view for the patient, greater resolution, a more comfortable lens and better vision.
